Chota members truly enjoy the natural environment in which we practice our sport, and for that we feel strongly that nature should be protected today and for our children. To this end we are active in the preservation and restoration of natural areas and conservation of our natural resources. From volunteer efforts for river cleanups to contacting our government officials, our members are a vital champion of protecting the environment we all enjoy. As an organization Chota actively supports many local, state, regional and national conservation organizations with donations and other resources. Retaining only a small amount of revenue for club operations we donate all monies raised during a given year to these organizations.

American Whitewater
AW is a national non-profit organization with a mission “to conserve and restore America’s whitewater resources and to enhance opportunities to enjoy them safely.”

American Rivers 
National non-profit organization focused on protecting U.S. rivers.

Fort Loudon Lake Association
FLLA is a non-profit conservation organization devoted to conserving, maintaining, protecting, and restoring the 52 linear miles of Fort Loudoun Lake and its watershed. Located in Knoxville.

Legacy Parks Foundation
The Foundation is a non-profit organization working to preserve and improve the natural environment in Knox County. Located in Knoxville.

Little River Watershed Association
The LRWA is dedicated to protecting, preserving and restoring the Little River Watershed located in Blount County, Tennessee. Based in Maryville.

Tennessee Citizens for Wilderness Planning
TCWP is focused on protection of natural lands and waters in the Cumberland and Appalachian regions of East Tennessee.  Based in Oak Ridge.

Tennessee Clean Water Network
TCWN is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation working on behalf of the environment, clean water and public health.  Located in Knoxville.

Tennessee Scenic Rivers Association
TRSA is a volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation, protection and restoration of the scenic, free-flowing rivers in Tennessee. Based in Nashville.
